What paint correction actually does

Swirls and Scratches Don't Have to Be Permanent.

The clear coat on modern vehicles is typically 50 to 100 microns thick, thinner than a human hair. Swirl marks, buffer trails, light scratches and water spot etching all live in that layer. Paint correction uses machine polishers and diminishing abrasives to level the clear coat, removing those defects and restoring a flat, mirror-like reflection.

Most vehicles in northwest Oklahoma that haven't been professionally corrected carry years of swirl damage from automated car washes, improper drying and abrasive red dirt. In direct sun it shows up as a web of fine scratches that robs the paint of depth. It's one of the main reasons a vehicle looks dull even after a thorough wash.

Single-stage correction removes light to moderate defects. Two-stage correction, a heavier compound cut followed by a finishing polish, handles deeper scratches and heavy oxidation. We use a paint depth gauge first, so we're always working safely within the clear coat's limits.

After correction the paint is bare, stripped of all protection. That is why we always recommend following it with a ceramic coating or quality sealant, performed at your location anywhere in our 40-mile NW Oklahoma service radius.

FAQ

Common Questions.

Still wondering? Call or text (580) 791-2662.

Can paint correction remove all scratches?

It removes swirl marks, light scratches and surface defects in the clear coat. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail may need touch-up paint.

How long does paint correction take?

Single-stage: 4 to 6 hours. Two-stage correction on larger vehicles can take a full day.

Is paint correction safe for my car?

Yes. We measure paint depth first to make sure we never remove more clear coat than necessary.

Should I add ceramic coating after correction?

Strongly recommended. Correction restores the paint; ceramic coating protects it so it stays that way for years.

What causes swirl marks?

Automated car washes, improper wash technique and low-quality towels are the main culprits. We eliminate them.
